About Me!

Hello, my name is Tina Nakata, and I am an actor, dancer, singer, and choreographer.

I was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan until 15 years old when I decided to move to Vancouver to attend a fine arts high school to study theatre living away from my parents. Why? you'd ask. It all started when I was 9 years old watching the Tony Award Ceremony in Japan. I was struck by the dazzling performances and the luminous stage in front of a huge audience in the heart of New York City. That was the night my journey all began. A tiny girl from Tokyo found a home on stage.

I attended the B.F.A. Acting program at Penn State, and I appeared in a few centre stage shows including Everybody by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins as one of the main characters, Somebody.

Since 2024, I have been pursuing my B.F.A. in Musical Theatre at Nazareth University. I appeared in Main Stage production's Cabaret as Fritzie, and Head Over Heels under the direction of Lainie Sakakura.

Outside of theatre, Tina is passionate about social justice and discussing about equity and inclusion in theatre, and she is proudly a founding member of Theatre and Dance Board of Color at Nazareth University.
